  • 1.  60 day evaluation mode

    Hi

    I just installed VMware ESXi 5.5 with VSphere Clent

    the license is for 60 days, what happens after 60 days and how can I make this permanent as I was told the license is free. Thank you.

    The binaries are the same for all editions. As soon as you have registered for the free Hypervisor (see link provided by ), you can enter your free license key under Configuration -> Licensed Features.

    After 60 days all the features will stop working and you will have to buy a new key or re install the hypervisor to get another 60 day evaluation period.

    I have a similar situation.  I installed ESXi 5.5.0 for HP servers and it has expired.  I cannot start any of the guests.  There is no license listed for it that i can find.  If I have to install the "free version" of ESXi, would I have to the current guests prior to the install?

    you don't have to re-install.

    please go to following link

    Download VMware vSphere Hypervisor for Free

    use your my vmware account credentials, it will give you license key for free vSphere hypervisor 5.x key, which can be used license your ESXi.
