  • 1.  3PAR Async Remote Copy with ESXi (Read-only volumes). Not using SRM

We are looking at setting up a disaster recovery site for worse case scenarios. This would strictly be a Active/Passive setup with two HPE 3PAR SANs. The primary location will replicate data to the remote site using 3PAR remote copy (one-way) and we want the ability to boot those VM's on a standby server at our remote location. Currently we have the volumes replicated (which are the datastores) but because they are strictly read-only we cannot present them to the ESXi server.

So my question is how can I actually test this and make sure it will work? I was hoping to present the datastores as read-only and at least import the VM configuration to just leave the VM's offline until we actually need them.

Can anyone provide any guidance that doesn't involve another product like SRM?

    HI ,

You can make offline of one LUN from active location and you can bring up the volume to another location

Note # only for testing purpose you can try with new volume also . And don't put any production vms on that .
