  • 1.  250GB limit?

    I'm trying to add a hard drive to one of my VMs and it won't let me exceed a 250GB capacity. Is that normal?

    This is due to VMFS block size choosen when formating your VMFS volume. By default it's set to 1MB which allows you to have a maximum file size of 256GB

    Take a look at this page for more details:

    You would need to re-create the VMFS volume to allow for larger file sizes

    wow - I thought that was for individual files within vmfs - 8mb block size is huge
