    Hello,

I am running Fusion 13 Pro on an M1 Mac mini.

I've found this on the VMware website on Nov 21, 2022.

    Fusion_guests.jpg

which tells me I should be able to run Windows 10 as a GUEST on in a Fusion VM on an M1 Mac.

However, when I try to create the VM with the Windows 10 ISO image, this is displayed.

"This virtual machine cannot be powered on because it requires the X86 machine architecture, which is incompatible with this Arm machine architecture host."

These information in the screenshot is contradicting the error message from Fusion.

Would someone please explain why I cannot install Windows 10 in the  VM?

    Thanks

    The error message is correct.

You can not virtualize operating systems that were built for an Intel chip on Apple Silicon. Same for Parallels. This is a consequence of Apple switching chips to Apple Silicon.

You must run Windows 11 on ARM with Fusion 13 on Apple Silicon if you want to run Windows.

See the Unofficial Fusion 13 for Apple Silicon Companion document https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Fusion-Documents/The-Unofficial-Fusion-13-for-Apple-Silicon-Companion/ta-p/2939907 for more information, and for help on obtaining and installing Windows 11 on ARM.
