I am running Windows XP Pro (SP3 + all official Microsoft updates) in VMware Fusion Pro 6.0.2 on a Mac Mini Late 2009 (Core2duo 2.26 Ghz, 4 GB RAM, 9400M GPU) and OS X Mavericks 10.9.1.
The virtual machine ist freshly installed and running the latest HW version and VM Tools (40 GB HD, 512 MB RAM, 128 MB graphic RAM, 1 core).
I mostly use this virtual machine for playing older Windows games and there is one certain error/glitch that I have now encountered several times:
As soon as the game has loaded up the screen starts to flicker like crazy (looks almost as if the refresh rate of the virtual machine and the host do not match up).
One game that shows this behavior is "Hollywood Pictures 2", distributed by Kalypso games.
Another more well known example would would be Aliens versus Predator 2 Gold by Monolith (I think there is a demo version available for that game...).
AFAIK both games were originally developed for Directx 7.
P.S.
I already tried:
Running the games from a "naked" Windows XP SP1 + VM Tools install.
Adding mks.vsync="1" to the config. The vsync was clearly active on the desktop, but it did not change anything for the games.
Best regards,
Reiner Staude
