  • 1.  Bootcamp: partition preprocessing failed.

    Hi guys,

I am hoping some of you might have come across this issue and might be able to help.

Problem in short: I installed Fusion 10.0.1 on my iMac running High Sierra 10.13.1. I am trying to run the Windows 10 1709 BootCamp installation inside mac OS. But creating the "New Bootcamp", and selecting my Bootcamp partition results in the given error: Partition preprocessing failed.

I already went through the following KB without success: VMware Knowledge Base

Is there anything more I could try?

Pre-Info: When the iMac was still Sierra, and the Windows still 1703, I had Windows running as Bootcamp without problem under Fusion 9.5. I uninstalled Fusion a while ago, using Windows only native, not through Fusion. Then I upgraded macOS to HighSierra, and Windows to 1709. Now I got my hands on a Fusion 10 license, installed that, and tried to get my Windows up and running again. So there might still be some kind of old config or change that prevents this. But what?

    Any help is apreciated.

    Thomas

Edit: I clarified the section about this computers history.

    Hi tzimmermann

Which item did you choose when you create your Boot Camp VM, 'Create a Boot Camp virtual machine' or 'Import your Boot Camp volume'? Do you have enough space left on your Mac OS?

Would you please help to upload the support bundle via Fusion Help-> 'Collect Support Information'? Thanks a lot.:smileyhappy:

    Hi nancyz,

I chose 'Create a Boot Camp virtual machine', so as to use the same windows either natively booted or inside a vm under mac OS.

Please find the support bundle here: https://cloud.tomkatweb.org/s/QMLpfDDZZBJsZf1

    All the best,
