  • 1.  How do you export the Host Events log from ESXI?

    Posted Jan 23, 2024 03:49 PM

Hello.  I need to export/save a copy of the Host-Monitor-Events log from ESXi (v 7.0.3), but when I go to the Events tab under Host-Monitor, the Actions icon is grayed out.  I would have thought that the Actions icon would be functional, and that you could simply click on it to export a text or csv copy of the Events log information, but this isn't the case.

As an alternative, I tried generating a support bundle from ESXi, but among the dozens, or perhaps hundreds of log files that it generated, I can't find anything called "events" or with another name that would suggest it contained the Host Events log.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, and if so, what is the trick to solving it?

Thank you very much for your time and help!

You can check ESXi Log File Locations for log location and purpose.

    Thank you very much, ssalmanhafiz,

I read the document you gave the link to, but interestingly, it doesn't say anything about the Host Events log.  It's curious.  I feel like it should be so easy to export that log from the interface.  Do you have any other suggestions, by any chance?

    Much obliged!
