    Hello

I am trying to create a VM using Fusion v1.1 on my Macbook (OSX version 10.5.2) , using my old windows 95 installation disks, over which I would install the WindowsXP home edition upgrade - effectively mirroring what I did on my old PC.

The trouble is that when prompted to put a windows installation CD into the macbook drive, which I do, I get the message:

    "No bootable device was detected:

A bootable device might be a CD, floppy, hard disk, or network device, as when booting with PXE.

To install an operating system, insert a bootable CD or floppy and restart the virtual machine.

I don't have a bootable windows 95 installation CD - the bootable media on my PC was a diskette."

Looking at other discussion threads this must be a really basic question. But if anyone can help me it would be great.

You do not need to first install Windows 95 in order to upgrade to Windows XP. Just create a Windows XP Home Edition Virtual Machine and when you get to the Windows Easy Install sheet in the New Virtual Machine Assistant uncheck the "Use Easy Install:" check box. Then during the install it will ask to check for the qualifying OS so just follow through with the setup pointing it to the Windows 95 CD and then back to the Windows XP CD.
