VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

    Hi,

I've been trying to sign up for the free personal use license, but the Register Here link or Register button on the page, just gives me a Content Not Available page.

Is there something I'm missing to complete this registration?

    Try using Firefox or Chrome.

Following that, incognito or private browsing... The service is functioning, but we suspect there's some cookie/cache collision happening.

    Thanks Mikero,

I was already using FireFox, but ended up having to use a guest Chrome window with no ad blockers or anything.

    All working now!

Its not functioning because people cannot get the registration code. Why is this so difficult - especially for a software company?

I've been trying for hours to get the license key. Safari, CHrome, Firefox.

    FIX THE **bleep**ING THING!

Use private or incognito mode, with no ad or cookie blockers.

And agree, having websites break when privacy is enabled is annoying.

For those that it might help, in my case I got it to work eventually by using incognito in Chrome and also by using a NEW EMAIL address. Using incognito alone did not work.

Does not work, blank white screen, nothing happen even without Adblock. Refresh page, still blank.

    Posted Nov 20, 2022 10:34 PM

I have tried 2 computers, 6 browsers, and incognito. I only  get the white screen. VMWare need to redesign this website. This is nothing short of a joke. NONE of the offered or "accepted" solutions work. What a complete and utter farce.

I am also unable to register for the free license.

Will some one please post a link to the page where I can do so, and then a VERY explicit description of what link to press. So far, trying to follow the instructions using ANY browser leads me on a fruitless chase.

How to get VMware Fusion Player Mac Personal Use License

    • Start current Mac version of Google Chrome browser
    • Go to: https://www.vmware.com/products/fusion.html
    • Use Link ‚Register Now‘ in the grey area with context menu ‚Open link in Inkognito mode‘
    • A new Chrome window starts
    • Register yourself including company name private
    • Register VMWare Fusion Player - Personal Use
    • Copy and save the License Key and start download of VMWare Fusion Player Mac version
    • You are hopefully done

This worked out for me on December 24th 2020

  • 11.  RE: VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

Thank you! These instructions worked for me; in particular, using Incognito finally got me past the roadblock where I would sign in, and it would tell me that my account wasn't activated, so I would activate my account, and it would navigate me away from the personal-use-registration page.

    Anyway, much appreciated.

Nonsense. Did it all exactly. Nothing but white screen when you get to the register bit. 2 PCs, 6 browsers. All the same

I have registered but where do I find the license Key?

  • 14.  RE: VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

    Posted Dec 29, 2022 12:30 PM

You download the Version 13 and install it following the instructions. You will be asked in a window whether you have a license key or want a trial period or want to use a personal use license. Check that box and proceed with the login as registered and then you should see the license key to be entered. For security I copied it.

I was able to register and download the VMware Fusion 12.1.0.DMG and license key ...

However, system requirements shows I need v11.x DMG for use on MOAC OS Mojave.

Is there a place to download VMwre Fusion v11.x (I found standard download, assume the same image, just different license key?)

If I use this, then will the provided license key for Personal Use (v12.x) work with v11.x image?

    Thanks in advance... Grant

Hi, Grant.  I found the 11.5.7 version for my Macbook running Mojave here:
    https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/downloads/details?downloadGroup=FUS-1157&productId=798&rPId=55757

I noted in the install that it would not accept my license for VMWare 12.  The instructions I found here states use the Try Free for 30 days option.  I'll try to get a personal use license for this version later.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

The Free personal license option is new for VMware Fusion 12.
You cannot use the free license for VMware Fusion 11, you also cannot downgrade the free license.

If you cannot upgrade Mojave to -at least- Catalina then your only option is to buy a VMware Fusion 12 license and downgrade the license to use it for Fusion 11.

    Sorry for the bad news.

That is indeed bad news.  Can't upgrade to Catalina.  Old 2012 Mac processor just won't handle it.  Even with a new SSD hard drive and more RAM.
Fusion 12 won't install on Mojave.
    Dang it.
    Thanks.

why is Vmware doing this to people? I've also been trying to register a free license and It's impossible a circle. can someone explain how to do this. It's as if they want you to get frustrated and buy a license.

Seriously considering uninstalling and going to parallels Desktop. so frustrating..

I Havel personal license for Fusion 12 and tried to upgrade to 13. No possible way.

Started new and once you try registering: blank page dead end.

Logged in you only can by a new license.

    This is annoying

    Hi,

The only thing I haven't seen mentioned up in the thread is to try and throw away all the cookies for the vmware site.
There's a very very long standing bug (between 5 and 10 years?) in VMware's websites where you can end up with cookies that are larger than the site can handle.

Same problem for me. Was excited to have a non experimental version of Fusion for my M1 Mac. But unable to obtain a personal use license.

    Posted Nov 21, 2022 10:12 AM

Now I tried it with google chrome private mode and went to the VMware page and downloaded the .dmg. After that I installed it and wanted to get the license key free of charge. Then i clicked on registration and that I have an account.

Then you need to accept all cookies and I was surprised not to see the blank page but my registration data where lots of fields needed to be filled. like company, position etc.

At the end I entered the CAPCHA code and wanted to send the data.

But VMware did not accept the ZIP code in their database as it is German. So I tried everything but no way.

The ZIP Code is in my account data shown but no longer accepted for registration for fusion 13 personal license

Question: IS that only available for US citizens?????

So you folks try it that way and you may be lucky. I stick to the old fusion 12 until I need to switch my iMac to Apple silicon. Then I will get out of fusion and use a QNAP virtualization system on a NAS drive from Qnap with Intel Celeron quad core. That works too with Win10 pro

Hello, i registered to get the key but unfortunately I did not get it, it shows such a message:

Your download request has been received and is under review for download eligibility.

Confirm that you provided a valid first name, last name, address, and country when you registered. If you did not, update your My VMware profile and try to download again.

Anyone knows what can be done about it?

This issue has been fixed as of 2022-November-23 after raising a support ticket with VMWare, received a call that the issue with generating Personal Use License has been fixed.

Verified and it is working as expected i.e. able to get a Personal Use License from the site and use it in the Fusion 13 Player.

    Thanks.

  • 34.  RE: VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

It is still not working for me. What browser did you use?

  • 35.  RE: VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

Google Chrome. My issue was resolved after raising a support ticket and they said that they have fixed it now.

I was able to generate the Personal Use License in a single go.

  • 36.  RE: VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

    Posted Nov 24, 2022 12:07 PM

The problem with the blank page is solved. I can get to my registration data now with google Chrome as well as with Safari.

But still it claims my ZIP code which is required and in their database to be incorrect.

No way to enter a German ZIP. Is the personal license not available in Germany?

  • 37.  RE: VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

    Posted Nov 24, 2022 12:26 PM

It worked in Germany for me. What solved it for me was that I filled out all the information they news in the profile setting, so that I had nothing to fill out in the Register form.

  • 38.  RE: VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

    Posted Nov 25, 2022 10:23 AM

I have filled in all the new info in my account but once I need to register for fusion 13 the new fields do not show the updated data in my account.

    This is annoying

Good buy VMWare. I switch to QNAP Virtualisation center with Intel Chip

By the way I tried the support line and they told me I need to ask licensing support but there I get nobody.

  • 40.  RE: VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

I am from Germany as well and have the same issues when trying to obtain a Personal License for Fusion Player 13. Tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome, the latter also in Private mode. Deactivated all content blockers. No success, no response from the web form after submitting the request. I wasted a lot of time and feel like an idiot.

I wrote to support@vmware.com but didn't get ANY response at all. It looks like VMware is not capable of building a web form that just works, and even after some complaints there is no interest in sorting it out. Well...

BTW if you guys start cleaning up, the announcement for Version 13 that pops up in Version 12 still advertises Version 12 (not 13). Makes a very good impression too.

My son recently obtained a license of Parallels (runs on Apple Silicon since quite a while) which seems worth giving it a try. Higher performance and good support, i.e. for downloading a Windows installer image. So after Fusion 4 through 11 and the "free" (and awfully performing) 12, it seems time for a change.

  • 41.  RE: VMware Fusion Player - Personal Use License

    Posted Dec 04, 2022 01:45 PM

It is not the browser. They simply do not accept German ZIP code in the address. May be they only want US citizens to register.

Simple solution is to enter a US address. I took that of my former affiliate and surprise, surprise: it is accepted and I am registered for the fusion 13 personal license.

As they do not state that the personal license use is limited to US citizens I assume it to be a legal bypass. Just use an US address, of friends or other.

Or perhaps it’s just poor coding in the web site.

If anyone is struggling with this - which I did today (different browsers etc etc).

The problem is that your complete address should only return one "match". I.e. I had an address (from line 1 to the country code) which did not match a single address, but actually an entire street - the website then rejected this as they could not "suggest" my complete address for me.

    Hopefully that helps someone!

    I still can't get a license.

Clicking on this link https://customerconnect.vmware.com/en/evalcenter?p=fusion-player-personal-13 in Safari and Firefox and Chrome just returns a blank white page with a round button down the bottom saying cookie settings.

open a private or incognito window, and disable any ad or cookie blocking plugins.

There's no good reason for requiring a massive number of trackers on the page or disabling functionality like this.  It's about the only site I've found that has the problem, but, is what it is.

This is a setting in macOS: System Settings -> Security & Privacy ->

    Scroll down the list:

-> App Store and identified developers

It currently is set to "App Store" only and that's why you are seeing this issue.

It's OK, don't worry about it.

What is more important is that you remove your license key from your post with the question.

Trying to use the triple dot to edit forum posts is flaky if you're using Safari on the Mac. Some times it will "take", some times it won't. If you try enough times, it may eventually let you edit the post.

Using another browser (Edge, Chrome, or Firefox) does seem to work much more reliably. And Safari on iPadOS works almost every time as well. (Go figure that one Apple product works fine, and another has problems).

That message sounds like it’s because of a macOS setting that’s set to only allow apps from the Mac App Store

Open System Settings > Privacy & Security. Then scroll down to Security. The option to allow applications from the Mac App Store and identified developers must be checked.

    Nice one Technogeezer.

What would us numpties do, without you knowing dudes?

I very much appreciate you taking the time to help me, with my problem.

Despite using AppleMac computers, for the 30 years, to get away from Microsoft Windows, I dislike the Apple Corporation, especially when having to continuously Sign In, and type my password twice, on my iPhone. My passwords are all saved on my computer, and yet they keep refusing to accept it, which requires yet another password reset. And even then, they sometime still reject it.

The fact that they refuse to let you see what you are typing, makes it difficult for this curmudgeonous septuagenarian.

    But enough of my problems...

Have a good one! Adieu mon ami et bonne chance.
