  • 1.  Problem with Roxio Media Creator and Video Card on Macbook

    Posted Jul 24, 2009 03:59 AM

One of my main reasons for running a virtual machine was the ability to use some of my favorite PC programs like Roxio Media Creator 9 for creating slide shows with menus and sound. However, when I run the Videowave program, it first checks my video card and I get the following message, "Your video card diagnosis failed. The application cannot run." I'm assuming that this has something to do with the VmWare default SVGA II video. I'd appreciate any recommendations and suggestions. I'm running OS 10.5.7 on my Macbook and Window XP with SP3. I have version 2.05 of VmWare.

Make sure you've installed VMWare Tools, which will add the proper video card drivers. And enable 3D graphics in the virtual machine settings. Beyond that, there's probably not much you can do. There was someone who was trying to do similar last year(?), but they couldn't get it to work due to the installer claiming a problem with DirectX.

I've tried both of those suggestions without any success. It appears that the VM video driver is not up to snuff for Roxio, and I don't see any way to change that.
