    Hello,

I'm using vSphere V8.1 with free license I saw an update that this is not supported anymore , so what will be the consequences ? should I buy an official license and what will happen if I didn't ?

I mean is there going to be any activation or a way to block my server ?

Second question I think now licenses pricing is different can anyone explain to me for example how much it will cost me the minimum licenses which I can use instead the free one ?

Is the a new product to replace vSphere ? or it will be the same ?

    Best Regards ,

I'm not aware of plans to revoke already provided licenses, nor to block anything.

As of licensing, it depends on the usage.

For private home labs, you may want to take a look at the VMUG Advantage program.

For other usage, you'll have to license the host based on it's cores, with a minimum of 16 cores per CPU. For a single ESXi host, the least expensive option is likely the Standard edition.

     - Following on from Andre's post.....

For personal use, the VMUG advantage program is the way to go at $210 per year for 365 day licences, and access to multiple VMware products (inc ESXi and vCenter)

If it is for Production use, then there are 4 options available, the cheapest of which is $800 per year for 1 server, see below

    1. VVEP (vSphere Essentials Plus) - 96 core pack. Maximum 3 hosts, $35 dollars per core. includes vCenter - Cost=$3360
    2. VVS (VMware vSphere Standard) - $50 per core (charged at minimum 16 cores per socket). Includes vCenter. Cost of 1 host with 16 cores or less = $800 per year
    3. VVF (VMware vSphere Foundation) - $150 per core. See William Lams VVF vs VCF article for what's included. Cost variable
    4. VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation) - $350 per core. See William Lams VVF vs VCF article for what's included. cost variable
