Upgraded to v. 6

Just downloaded and upgraded to version 6.  When process completed and VMWare Fusion was to boot, it continually "quits unexpectedly".  Please help!

    Hi Marjean!

Are you encountering the crash described in this other thread?  Fusion 6 Professional crashes on launch

If that isn't what you're seeing there, could you please attach one of the crash reports to a reply here in the forums?  Launch Applications > Utilities > Console and find the relevant VMware Fusion diagnostic report.  Attach the file by selecting "Use advanced editor" in the top-right corner and then choosing the Browse... button below; Please don't copy-and-paste!

    Thanks,

Yes, crash occurs immediately upon trying to launch VMWare Fusion.  Unable to see "Use advanced editor" in top right corner of Console.  Also, tried other suggestion in Terminal and that didn't work.

Sorry for being unclear... The Use advanced editor option is in the compose screen of this forum, not in Console.  If you can locate the crash report in Console, prepare another post here in the forums, choose Use advanced editor in the top-right corner of the reply window, then choose the Browse... button that appears underneath the reply window, and navigate to the crash report file to attach it to your post.

Did you get an error message from the command in Terminal?

Sorry.  Followed instructions.  Found "Use advanced editor" but then had no idea what I was looking for.  I have Console open and have located diagnostic report.

I don't have the "Professional" version.  Perhaps that's why the Terminal thing didn't help me???

Hopefully I have attached the necessary report.

You do have the same issue as in: Fusion 6 Professional crashes on launch

In a Terminal copy and paste the following command then press Enter.

    ls -l "/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/"

What is the output of the command?  You can copy and paste it back to a reply.

Okay the original command posted by dariusd should have worked however copy and paste the following command in a Terminal and then press Enter, type in your password (which will not appear as you type for security reasons) and then press Enter again.  Then try VMware Fusion again.

    sudo rm "/Library/Preferences/VMware Fusion/license.fusion.site.6.0.200610"

    OMG, it worked.

However, I have gotten to "Create a New Virtual Machine", Choose an operating system installation disc or image:  Superdrive appears or Use another disc or disc image.  I highlight super drive and "continue" is grayed out.  Can't advance.  Put a CD in drive and still unable to continue.  What now?

Or do I need to install from my original installation discs?

Sorry, I figured it out.  Windows is installing, etc.  Thanks for your help.

I uninstalled VMWare and ran installer.  Now it crashes as soon as "Select Installation Wizard" window opens.  Attached is the Console reports since deleting and attempting to reinstall VMWare 6.

He/she already did at Burndog (4 posts since Feb 1, 2008) Sep 5, 2013 9:41 AM (in response to palter) and said "BUT, then on the second try it worked." so I have no idea why he/she posted to this thread almost an hour later! :smileywink:
