When I try to increase the disk size, I go to the virtual machine configuration and increase the GB, on the machine it creates an unallocated volume which in testing was just me extending the volume. But as when installing Windows it creates a recovery partition in front of the disk that I want to increase the volume, it does not prevent this increase. I wanted to see if there is any way I can extend the volume without having to uninstall this recovery partition and for free.

The Windows recovery partition is specific to that OS and how it operates/functions.  The partition is only within the allocated space of the VM disk.  The question I would have is - are you seeing this windows partition increase your VM disk?  Did you thin-provision the VM disks (in which case they can grow)?

Yes, they can increase, but I can only increase the volume if the unallocated volume is on the side of the disk that I want to increase. This is where the recovery partition gets in the way.
