  • 1.  Keyboard and Mouse will lock with VMware Tools loaded

I've seen other people with issues posted in the forms, but I have not seen a fix to it yet. In my case I have VMware Fusion 2.0 loaded on a Mac Pro. Running Linux RedHat 4.0 without VMware tools without any issues. As soon as I load the VMware tools the mouse and keyboard will lock. Sometimes it happens right away, other times it will happen within a few minutes.

I have the same configuration on my MacBook Pro, and have no issues with it. I've disconnected all blue tooth devices and only used USB keyboard and Mouse. Same results. I've tried the latest VMware tools and still same results.

I can revert back to my snapshot and work without the VMware tools, but I miss all the neat features that the tools provide. I'm lost as too what is causing this issue. I'm new to VMware Fusion and have attempted everything I have found on the forms but still no luck.

Has anyone else ran into this and if so what you do you recommend. I've heard of people going back to VMware release 1, but I don't think that is the answer..

Thanks in advance for any input.

Do you mean RedHat Enterprise Linux 4?

How similar is the configuration on your MacBook Pro (e.g. did you copy the virtual machine recently, did you install them in the same manner, do they just both happen to be running RedHat, etc.)?

Both are installs of Red Hat 4 and installed the same way. I'm going to attempt to copy the one from the MacBook Pro to the Mac Pro and see if I have the same results. The only thing I see that is not the same is the memory. I have the one on the MacBook set to 2024, where as on the Mac Pro I have it set to 4096. I will change that also and see what the results of that are.
