When trying to launch Win10 I get a dialogue box with the error message "Transport (VMDB) error -14: Pipe connection has been broken"
    What does this mean?

As the product you are using is Fusion, I have reported your post to the moderators asking them to move it to the Fusion area.

Please state which version of Fusion you are running, what your MacOS version is, and what type of processor your MacBook has.

There  are a few causes for this error. To help us figure out what’s the issue, could you post a copy of the VMs ‘vmware.log’ file found in the VM’s bundle folder:

    • Right click on the virtual machine in the Fusion Virtual Machine Library window, and select “Show in Finder”
    • A Finder window will open for the folder containing your virtual machine. Find your VM, right click on it, and select ’Show Package Contents’
    • A new Finder window will open showing the files that make up your VM. Find the ‘vmware.log’ file and attach it to a reply in this thread.

Don’t touch any other file in the VM. You risk damaging your VM.

Also, what's the specific host hardware and OS version?
