Waking up today to do some work, I went to open my XP VM and VMWare says: "/Users/Eddlemania/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/EddleWindowsXP.vmwarevm" does not exist."

I have had no problems before and used it in the last couple of days.

Could someone please please tell me the following things:

    1) Is this a common problem for VMs to suddenly vanish?

    2) Can I restore the VM somehow?

    3) How can I save the information that I only accessed through the VM?

    4) How can I prevent this from happening?

I run VMWare 2.0.4 and Windows XP Home OEM

Your help would certainly be appreciated. Attached is my support log.

When you go to your home > Documents folder, is there a folder in there called Virtual Machines?

Checking the support logs, i see a Virtual folder, but not Virtual Machines. If you're stuff is in there, just rename the folder to Virtual Machines and you should be good to go.

Fusion wouldn't have been able to do this, so I'm not sure what happened, but I have a hunch that's all it is.

Thanks for the response... unfortunately there is a Virtual Machine folder and the only thing it contains at this point are the varying language strings but no VM. I am baffled as to where the file went. More importantly, I am wondering how I can ever build the VM again and still save the information and files that were contained in the old one. Any suggestions?
