  • 1.  PXE EFI ESXi 8.0 differents Installer

    Posted Jan 15, 2024 03:13 PM

    Hi,

I'm here as I can't find the solution of my problem.
I'm unable to PXE ESXi uEFI 8.0 with the addition of the Mac Address for the hardware.

If I don't do the specification, it works.
Below the structure of my TFTP Folder :

In this configuration, I got this error :

    frDrakkarDrf_1-1705331195386.png

If I rename boot.cfg.save to boot.cfgi in the TFTP root folder, it works, but it's not what I want.

I have checked on the hardware on which I want to deploy that the Interface used for PXE, is this Address MAC 00:0C:29:E9:36:72.

And the content of the cfg file is :

    frDrakkarDrf_2-1705331464491.png

    Any idea, advice ?

     -

The question that comes to my mind is - what TFTP server do you use?

Did you perform correct all preparation steps - for PXE installation?

    check best practices

I use CentOS Linux 7 (Core) Kernel 3.10.0-160.
In fact I was able to make it works in BIOS like I want, but in uEFI I'm stuck with this problem

    Hey frDrakkarDrf,

Were you ever able to figure out why tftp would not read files in the homedir subdirectories?  Or did you end up doing something different?

I'm having the same issue & trying to manually step through testing changes, but coming up with nothing.

Works fine if mboot.efi, boot.cfg, ks.cfg, Esxi installer files are all at the same level. But its a giant mess when building out hundreds of hosts.
