re: Failed to commit changes to fabric

We have an identical issue on two independent Brocade Fabrics within one site. We are unable to save or commit changes to the fabrics. We received the message below:

Zone Admin opened at Tue Nov 24 2009 13:34:46 GMT+00:00

--- start of commit (Save Zone Database Only) at: Tue Nov 24 2009 13:35:54 GMT+00:00

--- end of commit at: Tue Nov 24 2009 13:35:55 GMT+00:00

Each fabric is made up of three 4Gb Brocade switches running FOS 5.30D and 5.30. We have tried committing changes against all of the switches in each fabric (principal and subordinate) using different admin accounts from different PCs without success.

We are working with our support provider to identify the root cause of the issue but any suggestions that other members are able to provide would be gratefully appreciated.

Re: re: Failed to commit changes to fabric

This turned out to be entirely unrelated to the SAN Fabric.

The JAVA clients on our PCs were struggling with a new MS ISA 2006 environment that we have. The issue was fully resolved by configuring our JAVA clients to use a "Direct Connection" and not relay traffic via the ISA servers. This might seem like an obvious cause but it was easily overlooked based on many years of trouble free operation with an existing ISA 2000 farm.

Important clues included the fact that all switches on both fabric were affected and that zoning changes were possible via telnet.
