Hello,
On our DCX switches with 8Gb SFP+ transceivers, sfpshow indicates max cable length of 20m with 62.5u cables (OM1/M6) and 50m with 50u cables (OM2/M5). On 4100/4900 switches with 4Gb SFPs, sfpshow indicates max length of 70m with 62.5u and 150m with 50u cables.
This is all in agreement with the Brocade document "Cabling_Best_Practices_GA-BP-036-02.pdf".
My question is what is the max cable length supported with 8Gb SFP+ transceivers when the port speed is set to 4Gb with a 50u (OM1/M6) cable? Does it behave like a 4Gb SFP and allow a max cable length of 150m? I presume it does but would appreciate confirmation from the experts.
Thanks,
Alastair
