hba connected to 2 FC switches - one is shows 8, another show 4

I got a esxi host that has an dual port hab connected to 2 FC switches

on one of the FC switches, it shows 8Gbps

on another it shows 4Gbps

Is it the difference in modules used?

Hi,

How is the speed configured? Autoneg or fixed speed?

Do both switchs support 8G? and its SFPs?

sfpshow -all | grep Trans

(Substitute -all for the slot/port (or just port) in question)

Run the above from both switches.

On one, I would suspect a return of 200,400,800_MB/s. (the connection showing 8).

Does the other also show this? If not, the SFP is suspect. (It's either a 4G SFP, or, its a faulty 8G SFP)

This assumes both switches are identical...

you can try to configure a fixed 8Gbps speed with the command

portcfgspeed <portnumber> 8

or view port settings with portcfgshow <portnumber>
