We are de-implementing a out of service 4900 switch. I am wondering if it's a problem to just unplug the cable we were using for ISL from our director switch, and plugging it into a new 6520 switch.
Will that cause a disruption to the fabric?
Thanks.

if you unplug / disconnet the ISL from 4900, all connectivity connect to 4900 will be lost.
Other switch in fabric don't have any impact, excepted when this 4900 is principal Switch.
"switchshow" command give details if the switch you want to remove is principal or subordinate.

So, if I take that cable that I unplugged from the 4900 (no hosts on switch anytmore), and plug into 6520, it should have no affect on the fabric?

you ask if the decommisioned switch have any impact to a fabric.
and the answer is no
if you want to unplug and/or move to another switch in the same fabric, you should not have any impact.
if the new 6520 have already a config, and this is different from a config in 4900, the ISL segmented
