Simple zoning question

Hi,

I'm a newbie to SAN and brocade switches.

I've got a dual-fabric for IBM Bladecenter connecting from brocade 4Gb modules to Silkworm 4100s.

All zoning is based on WWN and zoning is single initiator/single target zoning.

For example,

chassis 1 blade 1 to SAN controller A

chassis 1 blade 2 to SAN controller A

I was wondering if i'm correct in saying that the new zoning will be propagated to 4100 if I modify the WWN for the specific alias on the brocade module.

Should I make a change on Principal switch, in this case that would be Silkworm 4100?

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

John

Re: Simple zoning question

Hello!

The aliases are stored in the zoning db. See the output of the CLI command "cfgshow".

So yes, it's propagated to the other switches in the fabric.

As for where to do the zoning, I'd do it on the principal switch.
