We are having problems coonecting W2K servers through our Brocade 3800's (V3.1.0) using Emulex LP9802 HBA's. When we enable the port we get receive rejects on the host port followed by "ioctl" messages on every port on the switch. This causes our hosts to lose their path to the fabric. This happens over and over until we disable the switch port. We are at the recommended driver for the HBA. Has anyone seen a problem like this? The servers are W2K SP3.

Our problems are related to having the "Enable Networking" option set on for the HBA. This is sending an IP broadcast to ports on the switch that are not in its zone. Does anyone know where there is doc on the "broadcast" zone for FCIP and how I could set up a null zone to prevent FCIP broadcasta from going out?

You might be able to go into lputilnt.exe at the host and turn off IP networking on the cards. If you're not using FCIP you may consider turning it off. I thought the broadcast zone at the switch was for management and not host access related.

Thanks for the reply. The problem ended up being that we had DHCP on for the server and with FCIP enabled the server ended up doing an IP broadcat to every port on the switch. Turning off the Networking for the HBA stopped the problem. Defining a zone named "broadcast" with just one port prevents any port from being able to IP broadcast across the switch. By default ALL ports are in the "broadcast" zone when they login (do a bcastshow command & you will see them) After defining the "broadcast" zone the ports are no longer in the zone (after they logout and log back in).
