Here is the scenario: I was successful in merging 2 fabrics, which are approx. 26km apart, over a DWDM and dark fiber. The first fabic consisted of a 24000 and the second fabric was a 12000 both running v4.4.0f. There are 2 isl's between the switches which are trunked. From what I have read, extended fabrics are used to mitigate the latency caused by the distance between the 2 switches (26km).
