I have two 32 ports Brocade switches. Port 0, one out of 4 trunk ports is not functioning. The following is the output. I switched the other cable, the same. Link lights on both side are on. It says "No License", but I am sure it is licensed 0-15
Could anybody please help out? Thanks!

try first to clear the log "portlogclear" another option is to replace the SFP,
what happened ?

I did both suggestions, no luck. On one switch, the port 0 led status is off, but speed light is on. on the other switch, the led status is on, the speed light is off.
I aslo notcied portSpeed is different between these 2 switch on port0. It should be N4Gbps, since the other ports are all N4Gbps, how to change it to N4Gbps from 4Gpbs?
portSpeed: N4Gbps
portSpeed: 4Gbps
any idear?
Thanks!

portSpeed: N4Gbps
portSpeed: 4Gbps
keep in mind, port setting in a trunk group must have same settings, the output show one port is set as Auto Negotiation the other is set as Fixed 4G
set both port for short time as persistent disable "portcfgpersistentdisable" unplug the cable and try to adjust it first.
then enable the port again with "portcfgpersistentenable"
if this not work, disable the port again and do "portcfgdefault"
if the error persist try to change the cable.

We are making progress, as soon as I change the port to "auto", port0 on both switch seems "online" now. however, why port0 becomes "master" as well, port1 becomes "downstream master".
how do i clean this up? what is downstream master, should I keep it?

->however, why port0 becomes "master" as well, port1 becomes "downstream master".
this is correct, when a Trunk is formed.
however show to me as some is not correct set in remain port 2 and 3.
check accurately all Port config between a Trunk "portcfgshow" and if necessary take action to set it correct.
post here please output from "trunkshow"

noted another problem.
->
0 0 id | N2 Online | E-Port 10:00:00:05:1e:35:21:d5 "SWITCHA" (Trunk master) |
port 0 is set as N2, show as you have here 2G SFP inserted, where port 1,2, and 3 hare fitted with 4G SFP. "N4"
post please additional output from "sfpshow"

seems that you have 2 trunks now. one port 0 and one with port 1 to 3.
all ports in a trunk must have the same speed.
trunkshow and islshow should tell you more.
I would do a portcfgdefault 0 on both switches, if you have 4G swiotches. otherwise do a portcfgspeed 0 4 afterwards
Could it be that one of your SFP's only capable to run @ 2G?
Guess the correct command is sfpshow to see the capabilities of you port 0 sfp's
Cheers

uli,
I'm the opinion in order to avoid some confusion, it is not necessary to post same answer
