I rececently purchased two new SAN director switches (DCX8510-4) to eventually replace my 48000-series switches. I've reviewed the FOS 7.2.1 release notes and it appears everything is compatible. Here's what I'm thinking:
1. The two existing directors are domain IDs 5 and 6.
2. I set the domain IDs of the new directors to 10 and 11 (everything else in the fabric is a higher number).
3. Connect each director to the existing "odd" and "even" fabrics. Since they don't have the lowest domain ID each will download the respective zoning configuration.
4. Move host connections.
5. Everything works great!
Here's a complete table of what I have:

Great, thank you! I'm not sure where I heard/read that the switch with the lowest domain ID "wins" when first connected to the fabric. I guess I was just worried about blowing away my existing configuration when connecting a new switch.
