I am looking for the last firmware for my McData ES-4400 switch. I tried to contact Brocade support, but they answered that product is end of life and followed Brocade policy they can't provide me firmware for download. My switch currently working under ver. 08.00.01 2. As I know, exist at least version 9.
Also looking for possibility to unlock ports (currently switch has only 8 active ports from 16).
Will very appreciate for any help.

All M-Series ( McDATA ) Switches are End of Support.
In you case the 4400 in End of Support since October 2012,
- excepted the M-6140 this is Supported till February 28, 2014 -
Download are available only for Customer with Valid Maintenance Contract.
Additional For you Information, E/OSc v9.9.9 was the latest available release, however to upgrade to, you need more Intermediate E/OS package, because One-Step Upgrade from current 8.x to latest Release is not supported.
->Also looking for possibility to unlock ports (currently switch has only 8 active ports from 16).
No way, you need here a License, and such are not longer available.
BTW, to avoid some experiments, the License Key from One Switch to another one is not applicable.
I would suggest to no spend more time with, and looking maybe for a used Brocade Switches newest generation, in a case you are not intentioned to purchase a NEW one.

Thanks a lot for your response. Regarding the port unlocking - actually I
didn't formulated correctly. I have transaction code for port unlocking and
after second request Brocade support informed me that I may receive needed
license key based on serial number of my switch and transaction code. So, this
is not a problem anymore. BTW - I know that this license is locked to serial
number only. In any case thanks for inform me.
The only I still need is a firmware. Actually many other manufacturers provide
free access to an archive of legacy firmware, even for EOL equipment. I believe
this is a sign of good relationship with customers… Do you have any information
where may I find some newest firmware then I have now? The last one is not necessary;
some 9.6 will be just great…
