FICON channel problem

Hi all,

I try to configure channel between mainframe z13 and storage through DCX 8510-4 and I receive message from my host:

"The channel is a FICON Channel (FC), but the attached switch does not support proper security feature for cascaded swithces". I have no idea what is wrong. Security policy is set to strict and all switches in fabric are members of SCC policy. 5100 switches in this fabric work fine, this DCX is new and I set all parametres in the same way that for other switches. I use FOS 7.4.2a which supports FICON.

Can anyone explain where is a problem? Thanks. Marek

Re: FICON channel problem

You need to enable HIF.  High Integrity Fabric.  You can only enable if all FICON requirements are met.

It can be found in the Configure menu.

WWN Based persistent PID (yes, y, no, n): [no]
Allow XISL Use (yes, y, no, n): [no]

Remote Fosexec feature: (on, off): [off]

Re: FICON channel problem

You are perfectly right! That was a problem, but I'm sure that HIF was set to 'yes' before. I didn't check it.

Thank you, Marek
