Downgrade FOS from 6.4.2b to 6.2.2b

Hi Everyone,

I've a problem with Brocade Swtiches 8 GB 10 internal to IBM Bladecenter H

which is connected to Storage IBM V7000 .

There seem to be errors in link speed negotitation upon rebooting the storage.

We've set parameter for port connecting to storage to fillword=3

(portcfgfillword=3)

however the storage show link speed change (from 8 GB to 4 GB)

Also internal blades experiment problems connecting to storage

(they have Qlogic QMI2582 CIOV 8 Gb mezzanine card)

with "Invalid Trasmitted Word" error in ports of blade connected.

We would like to try to downgrade firmware on such switches

from rel. 6.4.2b (which is the latest)

to previous 6.2.2b ,

which doesn't have fillword setting to specify.

It is possible to do such operation ?

Any other suggestion ?

Thank you,

Albert

Brocade FOS support Downgrade, but you shold verify if this IBM Blade Switch is Supported with FOS 6.2.x

I think the same rules as for upgrading apply, i.e. you must not jump a release. So in your case you need to downgrade to a 6.3.x release first.

Wouldn't it be worth a try to try the other portcfgfillword modes on the ports?

Admittedly, looking at the actual problem statement, it doesn't sound like a FabOS downgrade will resolve this issue ..

Re: Downgrade FOS from 6.4.2b to 6.2.2b

portcfgfillword other than " 3 " for Storage V7000

will cause port to be disabled with errors,

so this is no option.

For internal blades,

suggested from IBM,

http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5087103

(we have Qlogic HBA)

is fillword = 1 ,

maybe worth try changing to 0 ?

Re: Downgrade FOS from 6.4.2b to 6.2.2b

Can you confirm the Blade Switch is:

switchshow command output

SwitchType 73.x ?

if yes, this is Brocade Blade Switch 5470 and NOT Supported by FOS 6.2.x

with other word, you cannot downgrade to 6.2

Re: Downgrade FOS from 6.4.2b to 6.2.2b

switchshow output:

switchName:     SWFC1

switchType:     73.6

switchState:    Online

switchMode:     Native

switchRole:     Principal

switchDomain:   1

switchId:       fffc01

switchWwn:      10:00:00:05:33:af:07:19

zoning:         ON (ConfSWFC1)

switchBeacon:   OFF

So no possibility to downgrade to 6.2.x ?

I've found link in IBM support

for FOS 6.2.0_bc3

http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=migr-5082830

Maybe possible with this version ?

Re: Downgrade FOS from 6.4.2b to 6.2.2b

a.

you ask in the threads to Downgrade to 6.2.2b also GA = General Available.

--->>>Downgrade FOS from 6.4.2b to 6.2.2b

6.2.x GA Releases, AFAIK not supported the Blade 5470

6.2.0_bc"x" release is OEM Specific Release in such case is "bc" for IBM, e.g. DEL for DELL Computers, HT For Hitachi etc.
