Re: DS24M2 manual?

Multiple attempts on both switches fail to accept command PSWD_RESET. Tried "Administrator & level-2" on web GUI login for both switches, failed for both. If I only type in PSWD, it gives me the option to reset the operator password, or privileged password. Have tried this as well, but neither seems to effect the GUI login.

My only other thought is to work my way through the CLI manual, and see if I can reset the individual fiber ports back to an open status. All I need the switch to do is basic switching, all else is just a means toward that end.

Thanks for all of your help,

Eric

Re: DS24M2 manual?

Eric,

i have tested the procedure into a remote switch which is serial connected.

Sorry for delay, this pw reset is only valid for 08.01.xx and above. Release preview 08.01.xx are not supported.

Please try again whit this procedure.

- connect as Serial whit the Maintenance Console.

- login whit "neergcm"

- enter the command pcp swoff

a - enter the command pswd_reset

b - alternate, enter the command pcp pswd_reset

( not a part this reset procedure, after > pswd_reset and/or > pcp pswd_reset please copy the output and post here, i'm just curios what kind of message you get )

when a or b is succesfully

- enter the command pcp swon

- close the session

- wait a couple of minute

- in you Brouwser, ( please use Microsoft Internet Explorer )  delete all cookies, history, and temp file.

- close and restart the IE, try the switch IP now, and try again Administrator and password

what happened ?

Re: DS24M2 manual?

Followed instructions, here is output:

>xxxxxxx
{P} SSP>pcp swoff
OK

{P} SSP>pswd_reset
INVALID COMMAND
{P} SSP>pcp pswd_reset
PCP Custom Commands are already registered.

{P} SSP>pcp swon
PCP Custom Commands are already registered.

Opened MS IE 6, deleted cookies, history, all offline files. Reopened IE to IP pf switch, greeted with login screen. Tried Administrator & password, still receive Authorization failure. Also tried Administrator & level-2, still no success.

Thanks again for all of the help.

Re: DS24M2 manual?

eric,

I don't have here any 4500 and cannot see.....

My question, have the 4500 a reset button located on the front panel next to the RJ-45 management port ?

Re: DS24M2 manual?

Yes, both switches (same model) have a recessed button to the right of the management port, labeled "IML / RESET"

Re: DS24M2 manual?

OK.

Please follow this procedure:

1.      Connect a null modem cable to the serial port on the back panel of the McDATA switch

2.      Start a HyperTerm session using the following settings:

o       115200 baud

o       8-bit

o       No parity

o       1 stop bit

3.      Press return

4.      At the > prompt, enter neergcm then press return Prompt will change to {P} SSP>

5.      Enter ews_rst_nvram then press return

6.      Press and hold the recessed reset button located on the front panel next to the RJ-45 management port. Hold the reset button until the port lights (for the management port only) begin to blink, then release the button.

When the switch finishes reloading, the default user name and password ( Administrator/password ) will be in effect.

Re: DS24M2 manual?

I don't know if you have solved this one yet, but another way to reset the DS24M2 (Mcdata 4500) is..

If you have acces to EFCM ver 07.XX, it will allow management of the switch without a password provided you have the IP of the switch, which you do. From there you can disable the switch and do a reset. This will rest the switch to factory defaults and remove all keys in the switch, so I hope if there are installed features, you know the keys to restore them....

Re: DS24M2 manual?

I apologize for the delay, was Ill and then had several other high priority projects that took precedence.

Just had the switches themselves (no documentation or other resources given to me. Where would I go about getting EFCM ver 07.XX?
