DCX Core Blade ICL ports

On a DCX-8, does it make any difference to normal operation if the ICL ports on the core blades are enabled or disabled?  This is for a single chassis so the ICL's are not in use.  What is the best practice for these ports when not configured for ICL connectivity?

Re: DCX Core Blade ICL ports

I'd set the unused ports to persistent disabled state. They will not get allocated any buffers in this case and wouldn't wear their Tx/Rx circuits as well.

Re: DCX Core Blade ICL ports

Many thanks for the reply Alexey, that makes good sense about the buffers.  I don't see the TX/RX making a difference as it's a CR8 core blade, so doesn't have any SFP's if that's what you're refering to.

Re: DCX Core Blade ICL ports

That's right, but I think even copper ports do have some extra power consumption when they are enabled.
