Could not locate the answer to this after reviewing some Guides.
What is the maximum FOS that a 24000 Director can be upgraded to?
Current FOS on the 24000 is FOS 5.3.2c. Trying to determine if the 24000 config can be upgrade to at least 6.4.1 to support a Config download to a new DCX Director at 7.0.
Thanks for any assistance,

The b24000 isn't supported in the 6.x.x code.
However you may be able to downgrade the director in order for the config download to work.
Out of intrest which part of the config do you want to "transplant" on the new DCX.
Perhaps it may be possible to do so without an FW update/downgrade.

Strange have been looking at the older 5x and 6x firmware bundles and it looks like the code for switch type 21 (=b24000) is still in there up to 6.1.1b (haven't looked further), but that contradicts my previous message (found in the HP release notes) and http://community.brocade.com/docs/DOC-1662 .
5.3.X seems to be the last level, unless you're up for an expiriment

The entire 24000 directors (both Fabric and Fabric B) are being replaced by the DCX's. The site cannot have the DCX's and 24000ks for Fabric A racked/powered at the same time due to floor space limitations. The 24000 needs to be removed out and the DCS installed in the same area..
The hope was to be able to perform a config download ahead of time from 24000 to DCX.. While DCX is powered up in temp location...
If that's not possible, other options might be ISL, or FCR if ISL not supported between the FOS's ..
That's where we are at right now... Any suggestions welcomed,

As it turns out, the site location now has available power to bring the new DCX's into the Fabric, and to be replacing the older 24000 cores.
To accomplish this, the new plan for each Fabric A and Fabric B is the following:
- Create ISL between existing 5424 Edge Switch and new DCX Core Switch
- This allows us to confirm if the new DCX picks up the current Configuration via the ISL
- MIgrate all current Ports from existing 24000 Core (FOS 5.3.2c) over to the new DCX - one Fabric at a time and validate all multi-pathing
- Create new ISL between existing 7420b San router over to new DCX
After revewing thje FOS Release Notes, I see the following:
- To create ISL between existing 7420b to new DCX, the DCX must be "downgraded" to a maximum of FOS 6.3.2.e
- To create ISL between existing 5424 to new DCX, with DCX at 6.3.2.e, the 5424 must be at minimum of 6.2 (which it already is)
My question is I want to confirm if I am reading the FOS release notes correctly, and that I must downgrade the new DCX to 6.3.2e.
It would appear the legacy 7420b San router is the largest factor here.
Thanks for any follow up!

Depend Software Buldle is delivered with, DCX Support IR = Integrated Routing, so is no longer necessary to use Old AP7420 Plattform.
If IR is not included in you Software Bundle, ask by Brocade or you OEM Suppl. for a Temporary IR License.

Thanks for the information on the IR possiblilies with the DCX.
That would be a good alternative , but in this case the 7420 will only remain in the environment for a few months longer.
So the option to ISL the 7420 to the new DCX may be the simplest for the short term that it is remains in the environment.
Given this scenario, do the FOS versions and ISL compatibilites given earlier seem to be accurate?
