6520 switch - Management port eth0 crashed.

We have installed new 6520 switches in our production environment. The other day, one of the switches managemnt port eth0 has crashed. We have concluded that its a speed mismatch issue and we need to update the speed on the 6520 management port. My concern is that we want to avoid a hard reboot. Therfore, my question is whether we do a firmware upgrade on the switch, and change the speed of the port, will the HAReboot fix the managemt port issue? And is there any risk that the switch will fail or hard reboot as a result?
