We have just completed our 1GB brocade switch fabric life-cycle to 4100s and 48000s. When our 1GB switches were online, we used LWL and ELWL GBICs depending on the site which were connected via dark fibre links. For this one instance with the 1GB, we used the LE port setting and a 1GB LWL GBIC. When we changed over to the 4GB switches with 2GB LWL and ELWL SFPs, the only way we could get some of the links to connect was to use the LD setting. Has anyone experienced this? LE is suppose to support

Jamie, i no have any big experience whit 48000, but whit 12000 and 24000. I think the Credit Buffer on the Ports is not correct. What is the Buffer Credit Value ? Is Long Distance Fabric selected ?

That is what I thought didn't make sense. Both LE and LD used 16 buffer credits. The only thing I can think of is that maybe in some way the new switches dictate the power supplied to the port/sfp based on the long dist cfg setting? When you look through the manuals, it seems to me that the buffer credits control the long distance lengths, but in this case, they are identical.

Jamie,OK, can you select for test high Credit Buffer of both Port ?
