    Posted Jan 06, 2011 06:58 AM

I'm using SEP 11.0.6200.754 to generate a Mac installable package. I'm facing the below issue.

I used Migration and deployment wizard to export Mac package but got the below error

"Failed to retrieve the Mac package from the Management Server. Please make sure the Management server is operational"

I'm sure Management server is operational, since I had logged into "Endpoint Protection Manager Console". Not sure what the issue is.

sandra (https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/user/sandra-guzdek) suggested me to use "Admin -> Tasks -> Export Client Install Package". But there I don't see Mac Package. I see only Win32 and Win64 packages

Any pointers on fixing this issue will be very helpful.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Kishore

do a repair from add/remove programs for SEPM

    or else run upgrade.dat file

    found under

    program files\symantec \symantec endpont  protection manager\ search for upgrade.dat

    or

u can manually add the mac package

Creating a new package within SEPM:

    1. Open Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console
    2. Click the Admin Tab on the left
    3. Select the Install Packages button in the lower center section.
    4. Click Add a Client Install Package under Tasks
    5. Specify the name you would like the package to have
    6. Click Browse
    7. Browse the original installation media to \SEPM\PACKAGES
    8. Choose MAC
    9. Click Open
    10. Click OK on the "Add New Software Package" screen
    11. once added create the package.

Yes, something appears to have gone wrong with the installation, as the Mac package should have been added.  The repair should do it, and if not, manually adding the package will.  Be sure if you're using a remote session that it is properly configured for console session.

Edit:  A colleague looking at your screen shot points out that you're using trialware.  This may not be an option for trialware.

Oh! I didn't know trialware doesn't support Mac. But the Readme or the download page doesn't mention anything about Mac not being supported in the trialware.

Thanks for the help. And Rafeeq's steps were very elaborate. Thanks Rafeeq.

No Rafeeq. I did not see any Mac packages in the packages folder you mentioned. Do I just assume Mac is not supported in trialware or is it documented anywhere that Mac isn't supported in the trailware.

If there is a read me included with the trialware, have a look there.  (I don't have a copy of the trialware downloaded.)
