WinPE Driver for Intel Series 5 chipset/SATA controller

Apr 19, 2010 10:47 AM

This download is for a particularly hard to locate driver for the Intel Series 5 SATA controller. It is a Windows Vista (and therefore, Windows PE) driver. The driver is not part of the standard load of drivers for the WinPE boot environment used by Ghost, and therefore must be added when trying to take or deploy images to machines using that (such as the Toshiba Satellite A500). This driver was extracted from a larger package that contained a great deal of other drivers, but this is confirmed to work. Here are instructions for adding this driver:

How to add drivers to DeployAnywhere or WinPE.

Thank you,

Randy

Hi Randall & all,

I was having trouble using Ghost Console to take images of our laptops - 2 types of Acer 3 types of Dell. The image create task would always fail - I can't reember if it was at the sysprep stage or going to VP. Anyway, I read somewhere that Ghost can't deal with AHCI so I changed all of the laptops to IDE mode and it all worked fine. I noticed this driver you have posted appears to be AHCI specific. Was the information I read incorrect? Can we use AHCI if we have the correct Vista AHCI drivers when using Ghost with WinPE?

PS: we are now using Ghost Console 11.5.1.2266 all updated etc.

Thanks,

Lee

WinPE Boot wizard says no drivers found when trying to add the Intel5Series.zip file's drivers to the WinPE 512? Anyone had this happen?

Thanks so much for putting this info out there. I reloaded my GSS from scratch to fix PE corruption and added the "VISTA" (KEY,VERY KEY)drivers you provided. You saved me.
