  • 1.  Will 14.3 Manager be able to manage 14.2 clients

    Posted 24 days ago

We have a critical environment that are VMservers that is used by multi agencies. So we have to upgrade in steps.

Currently our SEP clients are Version 14 (14.2 RU1) Build 3332 (14.2.3332.1000). If the SEPM manager is upgraded first with version 14.3 RU9, can the manager handle the older clients until the clients are upgraded to v.14.3 RU9? Will the 14.2 clients still report in and receive the Live Update files as they do now if the Manger is upgraded?

Hi, yes the manager can handle those clients and will download and provide content, but you should be aware off the following:
After December 31, 2024, SEP versions earlier than 14.3 no longer will receive support and content updates.

Hi, thank you for responding and confirming my question. We will surely update the clients before the end of the year.

    Have a great day.

Yes, after upgrading the SEPM to the latest version the SEP clients 14.x can still be managed and take definition and policy updates from the SEPM. However, an old client managed by a new SEPM can only use the functions available in its version and will miss out the new features provided by the latest version.

Its good to keep the latest SEP agent on all clients.

Thank you for the info, much appreciated. Yes, we plan on updating the clients as soon as possible. The environment contains over 50 production servers shared by a whole County so we have to do work in scheduled maintenance windows.
