Do we have updated hardware appliance documentation for end of life? Our partner noticed that there a frequent release of appliance model after a year or two.

    Hi Marlon,

You can find our current SSLV EOL documentation here. Currently the SV1800B, SV2800B, SV3800B and SV3800B-20 are nearing End of Life. They will be replaced with models from the SV-S550 series.

    Thanks

Yes I saw that speedcast. What I mean is if we offer this SV-S550-10 do we have a documentation that this hardware appliance will no become EOL after 1-3 years? The concern here is specially in government project hardware appliance should last 3-5 years which required frequent hardware refresh.

    Thanks for the clarification Marlon,

For Network Protection products, we have a general Network Protection End of Life Policy. The below excerpt should be helpful in alleviating the concern:

Network Protection Appliances are typically supported for at least five years from the Appliance purchase date for customers under active maintenance agreements. The actual EOL date for each Appliance may vary and will be the later of (i) 5 years from the purchase date, if the purchase is made prior to the end of the fiscal quarter in which an EOL notification is issued and (ii) the EOL date, which date shall always be issued by Symantec with two years' advance notice. The five years of support availability for Appliance purchases made after the Symantec fiscal quarter in which the EOL notification was made will be prorated and will relate back to the last day of that fiscal quarter in which the EOL notification was made. In order to achieve full support availability, customers must have continuous support with no gaps in coverage.

In short, as the policy stands today, if a customer bought a Network Protection hardware appliance today, and we announced End of Sale / End of Life tomorrow, the actual End of Life for the customer's specific box would be 5 years after the date of purchase.

    I hope that helps!
