  • 1.  NS domain change

Referring to "Notification Server Domain or Host Name Change for ITMS 8.5 RU4+ Whitepaper"

I just wanted to understand the steps in the whitepaper.
The plan is to move the NS to a new domain.

    Questions:
    1. How do I create a certificate for an NS that is still in a current domain?
I checked the article, but it did not elaborate if the steps are to be performed on an NS that is already in a new or in a current domain.

    2. If I create the self-signed certificate through IIS, with NS still in the current domain, can I use the certificate in NS in the new domain?

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Ain

    Hello Ain!

If this is a self-signed certificate, then it is possible to create any required common name in new certificate on existing NS machine which is joined in current old domain

You can specify new FQDN which will be used by NS after join in a new domain

NS common name will be new in this certificate

    2. In case if user wants to generate a new Domain certificate, then better to go to any server that is joined in a new Domain and generate there

as result, there will be a new domain certificate for new NS FQDN, issued by new Domain

Export this new certificate in .pfx file > import it in SMP Communication profile so all managed computers will receive and install it to be able to communicate with SMP when it will be joined in a new domain.

    Best regards,
    IP.
