Ghost Solution Suite required to use ITMS Deployment Solution?

Questions regarding Deployment Solution:

1. In order to use Deployment Solution taking/deploying images, does it require for us to have Ghost Solution Suite licensing?, or does Altiris have Ghost as the image engine and its builtin?
2. Can Deployment Solution use other image files (ex. Microsoft WIM)? Alternative to Ghost if the Ghost Suite is required.

Deployment Solution uses the Ghost imaging engine by default, but does not require a separate Ghost license.

I will verify whether that information is accurate and up-to-date.

In Ghost Solution Suite, the option to use ImageX is available from a drop down list. However, the imagex executable will need to be pulled from  waik_winpe{version}\tools\{arch}\Servicing directory and added to the express share\ ImageX\imagex.exe.  If you need more information in that regard, please open a support ticket.

It is my understanding that Deployment Solution does NOT support WIM files, but I will need to confirm whether that is the case.

While GSS supports WIM files, we do not recommend the use of GSS with WIM files.  ImageX is an old technology that has many limitations that are not going to be addressed.  That functionality may be removed from the product at some point in the future.  The vast majority of customers using GSS and Deployment Solution use .GHO image files.
