Dear Symantec VIP customer,
The purpose of this advisory is to inform you of impacts to your new and existing mobile applications due to a change in the Apple Privacy Policy, beginning May 1, 2024. Please read this advisory and follow the instructions below to understand how this change may impact your mobile applications.
What is happening:
Apple is introducing a privacy policy that requires a privacy manifest file in all new and updated iOS mobile applications published on the Apple App Store. The privacy manifest file lists the types of data collected by your mobile applications or any third-party SDKs and packages. The file also lists the reasons for using certain Required Reason APIs categories.
Apple is already sending out notices about including this policy in your mobile applications. From May 1, 2024, this privacy policy will be mandatory in order to pass the App Store review.
Refer to this link for more information: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/bundleresources/privacy_manifest_files
How this affects you:
The customers building mobile applications using VIP Software Development Kit will be required to integrate with the updated SDKs. The following Symantec VIP SDKs are been updated with privacy manifest files:
You must update any mobile applications built using these SDKs to include the privacy manifest files. This is mandatory in order to pass the App Store review before publishing the mobile application.
Existing mobile applications on the App Store are not impacted unless you republish them.
What you should do:
The Symantec VIP product team is developing updated versions of Mobile SDKs and once published will be available in VIP Manager Downloads. Once available, you can download the last version of these SDKs, and use them to update and publish your mobile applications.
