Happy community week is time to start with new goals and meet the challenges of day to day, in the previous article that I had written I was talking about what is a Proxy and its risks to have an indiscriminate use and consenquences that can present and the risk of exposing the information and the security of a company and additional recommendations to have a use oriented to the productivity of a company in daily assignments for greater performance and efficiency, in this article I will talk about a related topic what is the SQL server, functions, advantages and disadvantages, common mistakes and how to solve this kind of eventualities.

                                                                                              SQL Server

The SQL server is defined as an integrated system that fulfills the primary function of managing the relational database in its acronym is known as (RDBMS) belonging to Microsoft for the development of a business or corporate environment whether executed from the cloud or from the same system, SQL Server executes its activities in (Transact-SQL) which are the extensions of said Sybase and Microsoft programming added to standard SQL features, under its code name Yukon in its development stage before being known as SQL Server.

SQL Server is attributed to be a database with a quite acceptable security for its storage system, analysis and performance thanks to the speed it has to process the information.

SQL Server performs many functions which are necessary for the development of the work environment in a company and these functions are known as follows:

  • High backup capacity that can be configured manually or automatically to carry out the designated tasks in a simpler way.
  • Availability in downtime due to constant updates caused by revisions through a visibility paneladvance programming of tasks to be executed automatically in a set time.
  • Encryption of transparent data, performing audits, managing keys and backup copies keeping data protected by assigned workloads.

Now that we have described the functions of SQL Server we will define the advantages and disadvantages that it has:

  • Use of active data: It has as a benefit for users a greater performance of data by including functions such as creation of reports or reports, data analysis.
  • Client-Server Mode: It has the advantage of being able to be executed with the specific functionality where the data is hosted on the server and the network terminals can only access the information directly.
  • SQL Security: This function is basically responsible for the administration of permissions at the server level as well as allowing reading or not reading execution and security in all procedures.

  • SQL Server compatibility limit can only be executed exclusively on Windows servers as well as have problems of incompatability with other applications coming from other platforms.
  • Limited use that only applies when many companies to acquire the use of SQL server try to execute activities or tasks for free which is not favorable due to the number of limitations or restrictions which is not recommended it can only be used in a complete way with clearly defined and serious objectives that focus on the productivity of the company.
  • Limit of resources with respect to RAM for installation and use of software.

                                                                                         Common mistakes

  • Errors related to the installation: It does not specify the network while trying to establish connection with the SQL Server server or it is not accessible many times it is necessary to configure it to be configured to support remote connections.
  • Return values: Normally when errors occur in an sqlsrv operation an array containing error information will be returned.
  • Parameters: This determines immediately if the information is returned with error, alerts or both and this happens more often if the alert is not reported.

Now that the advantages and disadvantages of SQL Server have been mentioned, some tips will be added that will serve to correct these errors in time and maintain performance:

  • Make basic verification of the connection of the IP to ensure that there is no news that interrupts the activity.
  • Constant revision of SQL to know how to check the initial message with the error log.
  • Perform the initial SQL Server test connecting through other client systems and different user session startups.
  • Verify that the user has a login at the server level with appropriate permissions to connect to the system database.

In spite of everything SQL server does not stop being a very productive tool where it can be developed to the maximum and thus be able to achieve a better development in all the assigned areas of the company despite its disadvantages it is still a tool that if given proper use can maintain the productive approach.
