  • 1.  SEP SBE cloud to SES

    Hi everyone.
As everyone is probably well aware SEP SBE cloud is becoming end of life and the migration path is to SES - Endpoint Security.

I believe I've received the required entitlements which are described as "Endpoint Security, Initial Hybrid Subscription License with Support"

However I can't figure out the correct initial step.

Attempting to following the SES instructions here
    https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/endpoint-security-and-management/endpoint-security/sescloud/Getting-Started/sign-into-your-symantec-security-cloud-account-v134449085-d4161e6.html

says to log in to securitycloud.symantec.com and when I attempt that after a bit of redirection i end up with a choice of two options that apparently I am not entitled to:-
Web Security Service or Data Loss Prevention.

Reviewing the downloads that come with the "Endpoint Security" entitlement reveals that they are "Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_14.3.0_MP1_SEPM_EN.exe"  which looks to me like the on-premises version (certainly from the docs here :- https://techdocs.broadcom.com/us/en/symantec-security-software/endpoint-security-and-management/endpoint-protection/all/release-notes/system-requirements-for-v53308029-d69e1453.html as it refers to the old (I transitioned away from SEPM to the cloud previously) internal DB requirements.

Can someone just point me in the right direction as where i have got to at the moment is that to go from SEP SBE cloud to SES (SEPM?) I have to install the on premises version of SEPM and then migrate that to the cloud?

And, from what I have read, I also have to manually uninstall SEP SBE agents to get SEPM working again?

    Have I got this right?

    Thanks in advance,
    Gary.

The direct link to SES is: https://sep.securitycloud.symantec.com/

Make sure to review the welcome email you received as it walks you through how to setup your account and gain access to SES.

And recommend that you re-review the Transition Guide which can be found here (download the attachment on the bottom of that page) as it covers some of the points you mentioned.

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the quick reply and apologies for my delay.

The email I have contains :-
    PRODUCTS LICENSE ACTIVATION
Symantec Endpoint Security (SES) Product Family Start Now

That takes me to  https://securitycloud.symantec.com/cc/?pr_id=ee148c5d-e618-4f3f-950b-56cf559bd222&source=Symantec#/landing which ultimately is the same place I end up from https://sep.securitycloud.symantec.com/ which says that I
"Could not sign in to your account
We're sorry, you do not have an active account for Symantec Endpoint Protection"
Pressing the Sign-in button there takes me to "Symantec Integrated Cyber Defense (ICD) Portal" which then gives me to the two options I mentioned above.

Does this mean that I don't have the correct licenses? My license of  "SES-NEW-1-24-1Y Endpoint Security, Initial Hybrid Subscription License with Support, 1-24 Devices 1 YR"  shows as Active in "My Entitlements."

I've reviewed the PDF you referred me to and that does seem to imply I don't need to go via SEPM on premises, which is good news.

Is there a problem with my license allocation and how do I go about remedying it?

    Thanks again,
    Gary.
