After installation of the december KB4054518 (Monthly Rollup), opening office documents from a encrypted fileshare is broken.

I ran into the same problem too. I was able to open PDFs. So I had to un-install KB4054518 to resolve my problem. This was of course after trying to repair office, which did not work, then tried re-installing Office on another system, again, did not work. Removing the KB was the only fix so far.

Hopefully a fix will come soon.

    OS Win 7 Pro

Office 2010 Pro and 2016 Pro

I have the same problem. Win 7 Pro SP1, Office 2016 64 bit. I had Symantec Encryption Desktop 10.3.1 and tried upgrading to 10.3.2 but it didn't help.

We have the same problem - Win 7 Pro SP1, Office 2013 64 Bit. Using Encrypytion Desktop 10.4.  Uninstalling the MS update works but we automatically update - need a fix!

We ran into the same problem with Windows 7, Office 365 - 32bit and Encryption Desktop 10.4.1. After uninstalling the KB4054518 everything was working again. But this is no solution - we need to update Windows eventually.

According to some other posts this behaviour occurs also with Windows 10 after an update in October 2017.
