When we released the 8.6 RU1 versions of IT Management Suite (ITMS) and Client Management Suite (CMS) in July, we announced that those versions would no longer support Windows XP.

Since that time, we have received feedback from several customers (especially those involved in the manufacturing industry) informing us that they still need to manage machines in their production environments running Windows XP, even though Microsoft ended support for that operating system several years ago.

The customers were quick to point out that one of the unique advantages of ITMS and CMS has been its ability to continue to manage Windows XP devices years after Microsoft SCCM and other endpoint management products dropped support for such devices.

Based on the feedback from our customers and partners, and after careful consideration and discussion, a decision has been made to reinstate support for Windows XP in the ITMS and CMS 8.6 releases.

There were several factors involved in making this decision, but we ultimately believe it's the right thing to do for our customers. We pride ourselves in listening to our customers and partners and trying our best to meet their needs.

And here I complain about the win 7 boxes we have left, but does this hold back dev on newer features when you have to make sure that you can support an os from 20 years ago and modern OS? That's is why sccm and other ones stop support for that stuff
