getting this error message when trying to open one email - MAPI Proxy: Decryption failed with error: PGPError #-12562

 

why is the issue?

I am getting the same error every time I got an Mail from extern.

Reinstallation of the Keys and the whole Software did not help

I don't know how to fix this. Can you help please?

Same problem here as well. I get the 12562 error every time I try to decrypt an external message.  Things are still working fine using the same keys on my old computer running 10.2.0 MP3.

The error code that you are getting is related to some changes that we made to mitigate a vulnerability that was discovered, dubbed "efail." These changes had an unfortunate side effect of marking some valid emails as being possible efail attacks, which is what is happening with these emails. The 12562 error code is the error code when an "attack" is detected, but most likely these are just false positives.

Our development team is aware of this issue, and we have determined a couple of scenarios where you can receive these false positives. It all really comes down to the type of key key that is being used to encrypt the emails, and the fact that an older version of SED is encrypting the email. 

There are some older keys that can cause these false positive scenarios because they are missing some security flags that we check on the receiving end. By using a 10.4.1 MP1 HF1 or newer version of SED to encrypt the email, the software takes care of adding these flags for the older keys, but previous versions do not. So if the key is missing these flags, we reject the email form automatic decryption on the receiving end.

If this is still happening with new emails that are being sent, we can take a look at the keys and see if we can find which one is missing the flags, and update the key so that it will have them from then on out. Unfortunately though, that will only take care of newly encrypted emails. Emails that are already encrypted will still cause the issue.

The good news though, is that our development team is addressing this issue, and we are currently targeting the fix for the next maintenance pack. Now this can change or be pushed back, but that is what we have set for a target as of right now. So hopefully we will have this issue fixed for you shortly.

Due to the support Case quoted above the issue should have been fixed with 10.4.2 MP2.

The issue still remains on my system after upgrading to 10.4.2 MP2.

In addition the behavior got worse, as im not able to decrypt the messages via clipboard anymore:

Before upgrading to 10.4.2 MP2 manual decryption via clipboard worked for me.

Can anyone confirm this?

just upgraded to 10.4.2 MP2 and am facing the same problem. Get error code 10800 when decoding the clipboard or 12562 when decoding the clipboard. Many older emails are no longer accessible.
Back to older version brings me back to Win10 issues so I'm stuck in the middle here. Any sugestion on this?
