  • 1.  SWG V100 Migration to SG-VA-C1

    Hi Guys

Can you advise if there is any documentation available on how you can migrate from a SWG V100 to a SG-VA-C1. I think that both will use the same SGOS and is there a OS migration possible or at least a policy migration from the SWG V100 to SG-VA-C1?

    Kind Regards

    Hi,

You need copy XML or CPL or you can do it from management center.

    Hi Lucian,

As Shaikh mentioned, Management Center is a great option. If you don't have MC, you can do a manual backup of a configuration archive on the ProxySG itself. This KB is a good reference of the steps. More detail can be found in the SGOS Admin Guide. Chapter 5 is all about backups.

If you only want policy, then this KB may be of use to you.

An issue I do see with doing policy only when you are moving to a brand new box, is that often time people encounter that there policy won't compile. This is because they try to install the policy before everything else is set up. If your policy references a configuration object that hasn't been configured yet, the policy won't compile. Some common examples: a keyring "abc" for SSL decryption, or references an authentication realm "xyz" - if those have not been set up yet, the policy won't compile. In this case, once those keyrings and authentication realms are established with the same "abc" and "xyz" names, the policy will almost always compile.

    Hope that helps!
