  • 1.  WinPE11 for bootOS

    Posted Aug 15, 2021 08:53 AM
    Hi Experts,
8.6 RU1 isn't yet fully compliant with Win11, but is there a way to edit / add to the 'prebootos.ini' file under "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Deployment\BDC\bootwiz", and add the option for WinPE11, and then just add the ADK from Microsoft and have another option?
or if editing the 'prebootos.ini' file, we are taking a risk as messing and crushing the entire option of the bootOS ?
If possible, could you please let us know where to edit the file? (reason for all of is, that sadly latest Win10 ADK is still just 2004, so we require a more updated version).

    Thanks,
    Hagai

Unfortunately editing prebootos.ini could be not enough. There are some specific actions that we do for different versions and these actions are hardcoded. There is no known workaround for now.
While there is a slim chance that WinPE11 may pose as WinPE10. more likely it will not, usually there are folder structure differences and also using beta version requires some additional actions to be performed.

    thanks,

Hey Sergei, thank you for the prompt reply.

So we are pending (for the most optimist solution) to 8.6 RU2, and not even that...

So we are left with pushing of F6 drivers procedure to the WinPE installation environment I guess...

    Thanks,

    Hagai

That's the plan, you can always report the problem to our support, so they could try pushing this feature to be included in some point fix earlier.

What is the problem with F6 drivers? Why do you need WinPE11 for them to be installed?

    thanks,
