  • 1.  CEM Agent can`t register to NS server

    Hi,

    Agent was installed with offline CEM package can`t register in Notification server.

    Client machine is located outside our corporate network.

    In client logs there is a message:

    Request 'HTTPS://SMP-Server.com:443/altiris/NS/Agent/ConnectionTest.asp' failed, COM error: HTTP status 400: The server cannot process the request because the syntax is not valid (0x8FA10190)

     

    I can`t find any solution for that kind of issue.

    Any firewall/AV blocking services or ports from running correctly?

    Have you checked DNS on that server and made sure it's able to resolve the NS server?

    Need more details:

    • More logs from Symantec Management Agent, which can't connect to NS via CEM Gateway
    • "Symantec Agent" web site is created and has :4726 HTTPs set on SMP Server machine?
    • "SMP":4726 is added in CEM Gateway and gateway has no connection issues with SMP Server?

    Hi Igor,

    "Symantec Agent" website is created on SMP with 4726 port:

    SMP server is added on Gateway and communication betwwen them occurs:

    Gateway (open Gateway UI Manager -> in 'Settings' tab, enable all Log Severity and then in "General" tab, click on 'Start Altiris Log Viewer'

    SMP machine, also open Altiris Log Viewer and enable traces/verbose log levels. (Is there any messages that your affected computer merges? Or any other useful info regarding this client CEM PC?)

    3) You have only 1 SMP machine URL in "Default NS Communication" profile or there is other alternative name as well? TLS settings and is there proxy settings specified/enabled?

    This can be checked: Open SMP Console -> Actions -> Agents/Plug-ins -> Rollout Agents/Plug-ins -> expand "Agents/Plug-ins" folder -> expand "Symantec Management Agent" folder -> expand "Symantec Management Aent Communication Profiles" folder -> open NS communication profile

    Registration policy is Enabled with standard settings: Allow: Hostname:*

    2) Could you please also check logs on:

    Gateway (open Gateway UI Manager -> in 'Settings' tab, enable all Log Severity and then in "General" tab, click on 'Start Altiris Log Viewer'

     I`ve attached logs from gateway. Log file is filtered with IP address of CEM Client machine.

    Just in case if you are using imported NS communication profile with CEM enabled to redirect cem clients from 1st NS to 2NS, please make sure that check box is enabled to allow CEM agent registration with NS for selected communication profile in Targeted Agent Settings
