I downloaded and installed the trial version of Protection Engine. The installed claims everything has installed successfully and I can see the sysmcan daemon running, but when I try to manually scan a file using ssecls I get the message "Error: Symantec Protection Engine has no valid license.". I have one .slf file in /opt/Symantec/Licenses with the product name "Additional Content"... this does not appear to be the correct license.

    What am I doing wrong?

I know this is an old post....

On Windows I have copied hte .slf file to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Licenses and seems to work.

Lack of clear instructions from Symantec. Mismatch of information completey in various places. Had to scour the internet to find this info!!!
